Based on the values above, holding prices flat.
That is about 13.7¢ per mile on gas versus 5.4¢ per mile on electricity.
These figures are estimates for comparison only and assume energy prices stay flat over time. Real costs vary with driving conditions, vehicle condition, charging behavior, and local rates. Default US prices come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration: regular gasoline at $3.83 per gallon (national average, week of June 29, 2026) and residential electricity at $0.188 per kWh (April 2026). Default EU prices come from official EU sources: gasoline at €1.717 per liter (EU average, European Commission Weekly Oil Bulletin, June 29, 2026) and household electricity at €0.29 per kWh including taxes (EU average, Eurostat, second half of 2025). With these defaults the estimate works out to about $997 per year in savings for a US driver and about €823 per year for an EU driver.
